About the Role
Based in Miramichi, NB, Vye Construction and Paving is a family owned and operated company. We offer an array of services in the field of construction and are seeking a full time Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team.
Required Education and Abilities:
Certification in Civil Engineering Technology
Experience in the construction industry is an asset
Valid Class 5 drivers license - abstract required
The selected individual must be punctual, organized and quick thinking
Safety oriented - must comply with all company and mandated safety policies
Ability to cooperate and effectively communicate with all project stakeholders
Ability to follow project timelines and ensure that others stay on task (time management essential)
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Understanding of construction site regulations and procedures
A willingness to learn and grow and develop skill set
Patience and a professional demeanor
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
Preparing cost and material estimations
Conducting field surveys
Use of total station system and/or GPS
Completing site inspections and technical investigations
Effective communication of project goals and specifications to all involved parties
This position has the potential to be physically and emotionally strenuous. The selected candidate will be responsible for the management, use and application of survey equipment and will also be a key liaison between project stakeholders. The successful applicant will be required to effectively communicate with and manage a construction crew. Professionalism and a safety oriented mindset is expected at all times. As expected in the construction industry, this position will require the lifting of equipment and working extended hours in various weather conditions. Wage to be decided based on prior work experience.
